Meet Abby Kahara

I grew up on a small family farm in Cromwell. In high school, I enjoyed volleyball and softball and spent my summers showing horses. After 2 years at NDSU in Fargo, I headed to the Twin Cities where I remained for 16 years. I earned a Master's of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University and have been a 5th-grade teacher at Barnum Elementary since 2010. Teaching is my calling and I am humbled to be able to help kids achieve their success every day.

I have a 13-year-old daughter, Lily; a 2-year-old son, Emerick; and my angel, Noelle. My children are my world; they are my "why" for everything I do.

Lily is an avid hockey player, playing 9 months out of the year. The day her summer season ends she's already asking when winter season will begin. She also loves softball and volleyball. She is a wonder to me, such an all-around great kid. Not sure how I got so lucky, but boy does she bless my life.

Emerick is my rainbow baby, my sunshine after the storm. He brings such laughter and love to our lives and his presence has been the glue that helped put our broken hearts back together after the loss of Noelle. He loves trucks, Legos’, and is obsessed with hockey like his sissy! I know firsthand the importance of living your journey. I hope I can be a small part of yours.
